There are many similarities between the two languages, but are they similar enough to be intelligible to one another? Persian (Farsi) and Urdu are both Indo-European languages and are both classified as Indo-Iranian. Persian is an older language, primarily spoken in Iran, Afghanistan and Tajikistan, as well as a other parts of the Middle East, Central and South Asia. Urdu, however, is a relatively newer language, created in the late Middle Ages along with Ottoman Turkish, and Chagatai, as a new Islamic literary languages modeled after Persian. They are regarded as "structural daughter languages" of Persian. Modern Standard Urdu is a Persianised and standardised register language of the Hindustani language. It is the official national language and lingua franca of Pakistan. In India, it is one of the official languages recognized in the Constitution of India, having official status in the five states of Jammu and Kashmir, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Jharkhand, as well as the national capital territory of Delhi. The Persian language has also led to the formation of several newer languages in West Asia, Europe, Central Asia, and South Asia. For centuries prior to the British colonization, Persian was widely used as a second language in the Indian subcontinent.

(See also: Iran naming convention.) * The Persian Empire of ancient and medieval times The Persian Empire was a series of successive Iranian or Iraniate empires that ruled over the Iranian plateau, the original Persian homeland, and beyond in Western Asia, South Asia, Central Asia and the Caucasus.[1] The first Persian Empire formed under the Median Empire (728559 BC) after defeating and ending the Assyrian Empire with the help of Babylonians. The Achaemenid Persian Empire (550330 BC) was the largest empire of the ancient world and it reached its greatest extent under Darius the Great and Xerxes the Great — famous in antiquity as the foe of the classical Greek states (See Greco-Persian Wars). It was a united Persian kingdom that originated in the region now known as Pars province (Fars province) of Iran. It was formed under Cyrus the Great, who took over the empire of the Medes, and conquered much of the Middle East, including the territories of the Babylonians, Assyrians, the Phoenicians, and the Lydians. Cambyses, Son of Cyrus the Great, continued his conquests by conquering Egypt. The Achaemenid Persian Empire was ended during the Wars of Alexander the Great, but Persian Empire arose again under the Parthian and Sassanid Empires of Iran, followed by Iranian post-Islamic Empires like Tahirids, Saffarids, Buyids, Samanids, Ghaznavids, Seljuks, Khwarezmshahids and Safavids, up to the modern day Iran. Most of the successive states in Greater Iran prior to March 1935 are collectively called the Persian Empire by Western historians. Virtually all the successor empires of Persia were major regional and some major international powers in their day.. ( wikipedia)

Travel video about destination Persia. Invasions, battles and revolutions always dictated the numerous great empires which developed on Persian soil and the kingdom of Meder was the country’s first great empire, with Hamedan its capital and one of its oldest, continuously inhabited cities. Although the Achaemenid made Hamedan one of its summer residences, they also built their headquarters there, a sprawling city system in the form of a large camp. Dareios The Great began construction of Persepolis shortly after he had attained power as Third Emperor of Persia. Although he already had two capital cities, Pasargadae and Susa, he wanted to present to the world a third impressive city. During several decades of construction the glorious total work of Persian-Achaemenid art was achieved. Todays ruins, former residence of the Achaemenid Empire, are one of the greatest and most impressive palace complexes in the world. From the Middle Ages, Shiraz had a well-developed network of quantum, underground drains that continue to nourish a number of gardens. The Mongols left Shiraz undamaged but the Afghans conquered, destroyed and looted the city until finally a Kurd, Karim Khan Zand, established a trading centre there, protected by a citadel, which became the capital of his empire. After Teheran and Yazd, Kerman has the third largest community of followers of the teachings of Zarathustra, with attendant fire temples. The Ganj Ali Khan Complex has a large courtyard with a water pool and is framed by arcade passages, a mosque, caravanserai, bath house and bazaar. Shiite Islam became the state religion and several golden dynasties followed until Persia became an empire with a long and remarkable history. -------------- Watch more travel videos ► https://goo.gl/MXPgSs Join us. This is one of the most fascinating and hospitable places I've ever visited. I was treated as an honored guest everywhere I went. Most pictures were taken south of the capital of Tehran. Isfahan is located on the banks of the Zayandeh River and is full of beautiful mosques and minarets. Further south is the rose city of Shiraz, known for its poets, wine and flowers. Nearby is Persepolis, center of the Achaemenid Dynasty dating from the 9th to 6th century BC. Here you find ruins built by the ancient kings Xerxes and Darius, and destroyed by Alexander the Great. The music is from the Iranian trio Niyaz.

Iran is a country blessed with world-class human capital and rich natural resources – number 2 in natural gas reserves and number 4 in oil reserves with a population of 80 million. This country had been isolated from the rest of the world for many decades until a nuclear agreement was reached in 2015. Along with its reentry in the global economy, Iranians are reaching out to the world, in hopes of achieving the target of 8% average annual growth over the next five years. Based on trust and respect, Iran and South Korea have been maintaining a very tight friendship since establishing diplomatic relations in 1962. The first part of the series highlights the rising power of Iranian taekwondo, the popularity of Korean popular culture in Iran, fueled by K-dramas and K-pop, and strong cultural ties between Iran and South Korea. Let’s Play Civ 6 as Persia on a true start Earth location map [Cyrus in Civilization 6]! Today we go to war with Arabia. I was lucky enough to catch Saladin at war with India. Let's try to take advantage of the conflict to the South of us! Let’s try to recreate the massive empire of Persia while being trapped between Sumeria, Macedon, Scythia, Arabia and India. Civilization 6 Steam description: "Sid Meier’s Civilization VI, winner of 15 E3 awards including Best PC Game and Best Strategy Game, is the next entry in the popular Civilization franchise, which has sold in over 34 million units worldwide, including more than 8 million units of Civilization V. Originally created by legendary game designer Sid Meier, Civilization is a turn-based strategy game in which you attempt to build an empire to stand the test of time. Become Ruler of the World by establishing and leading a civilization from the Stone Age to the Information Age. Wage war, conduct diplomacy, advance your culture, and go head-to-head with history’s greatest leaders as you attempt to build the greatest civilization the world has ever known. Civilization VI offers new ways to engage with your world: cities now physically expand across the map, active research in technology and culture unlocks new potential, and competing leaders will pursue their own agendas based on their historical traits as you race for one of five ways to achieve victory in the game. EXPANSIVE EMPIRES: See the marvels of your empire spread across the map like never before. Each city spans multiple tiles so you can custom build your cities to take full advantage of the local terrain. ACTIVE RESEARCH: Unlock boosts that speed your civilization’s progress through history. To advance more quickly, use your units to actively explore, develop your environment, and discover new cultures. DYNAMIC DIPLOMACY: Interactions with other civilizations change over the course of the game, from primitive first interactions where conflict is a fact of life, to late game alliances and negotiations. COMBINED ARMS: Expanding on the “one unit per tile” design, support units can now be embedded with other units, like anti-tank support with infantry, or a warrior with settlers. Similar units can also be combined to form powerful “Corps” units. ENHANCED MULTIPLAYER: In addition to traditional multiplayer modes, cooperate and compete with your friends in a wide variety of situations all designed to be easily completed in a single session. A CIV FOR ALL PLAYERS: Civilization VI provides veteran players new ways to build and tune their civilization for the greatest chance of success. New tutorial systems introduce new players to the underlying concepts so they can easily get started."
